Hola!
I hope you all are as stoked for conference as I am! It's seriously like spiritual Disneyland, and I'm so pumped! Can we just talk about how amazing President Uchtdorf is for a second?? His talk in women's conference was AMAZING! I have no idea how the rest of y'all, who aren't on missions, can apply the whole fourth floor last door story, but let me tell you, as a missionary, that was exactly what I needed to hear. I have to admit, I am guilty of tracting an apartment complex, and when it's not going so hot, I'll just think, "eh this one's dead, let's try the next one." But NOT ANYMORE! I want to be a fourth floor, last door missionary. You never know where someone who has been searching for the Gospel is going to be, so we've got to do everything we can to find them. I've learned on my mission that miracles are a product of inspiration and perspiration. We need to seek God's will and be guided by His spirit, then we need to hit the ground running and sweat our tails off (literally... this heat is killing us...) and that's when the miracles come.

So this week was a nostalgic/emotional roller coaster. After serving our missions together for nearly 18 months, Sister Burns and Sister Whitney finished their missions this week. On Tuesday night, Sister Whitney, Sister Topolovec, Sister Portzline, and Sister Burns slept over at our apartment so we could all be together one last time (plus we're in Baton Rouge where transfers were happening the next day anyways). I got to go on exchanges with Sister Whitney and teach one last lesson together. Holy smokes, so emotional. As we were driving, we were just talking about how much we've changed since she trained me last year, and how much we love our missions. That night, we all just sat around telling mission stories. We talked about all the people in our areas, which is so fun because we've all served in basically all the same areas so we know all the same people. The next day was transfers, and it hadn't hit me that Sister Burns and Sister Whitney were going home. When we said goodbye, all the Spanish sisters were a complete disaster. We all just hugged each other and cried for like 10 minutes. I feel so blessed to have served with such an amazing group of sisters my whole mission. It was crazy seeing those two go, and then meeting the two new Spanish sisters, and realizing that our time is quickly coming to a close, and the new generation of the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission Hermanas are starting this beautiful adventure. Oh, how we all wish we were in their place and not ours.
Now, I'm with Hermana Castro. Who is NATIVE. Yep. 16 months out, and my first native companion. My Spanish has gotten so much better in just one week because we speak it to each other all the time. I love Spanish so much. I really hope my sister Megan is practicing her Spanish because I'm going to need people to talk to me in Spanish when I get home so I don't lose it. Hermana Castro is the funniest/sweetest/hardest working person ever, and we're already so close after only a week. We actually came into Louisiana together, so we've known about each other our whole missions, and now we finally get to serve together. I'm so stoked for whatever the next 6 weeks has in store for us. It will be a grand adventure I'm sure!
Sorry this is kinda short and lame, the rest of the week was just normal teaching/finding, which is a tender mercy because it's been a while since we've had a normal routine. I love you all SO much! Have the best week ever!
Con amor,
Hermana Sorensen
