Hi!
I'll just forewarn y'all now, this email won't be very long or exciting. For the first time in a super long time, nothing really crazy happened so I don't have a ton of stories. I love crazy weeks, but sometimes it's nice to have a week where we can kind of do our own thing and focus on finding new people and working with the less actives we haven't seen in a while, instead of having to run around putting out fires.
One of the best parts about this week was that our ward mission leader's boss invited us to help out at a charity event he was sponsoring. It was a huge event to help raise money for a girl who has a super rare disease. There were bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, a dunk tank, lots of other games, tons of food, an auction, and live music. We helped out with all the bounce houses and games which was super fun. The best part was just seeing how many people came to support this sweet girl and her family, and how generous everyone was. We talked to Nathan (the boss) about the event and he said that this was the first time he's ever really done something like this, and it's really made him soften up and open his heart. It's amazing what service can do to people!

My other favorite part of the week was getting to know a friend of a family in our ward. We met him on Monday night when a family in our ward asked us to bring over a Book of Mormon for a friend who was over. The man was baptized when he was a kid, but his family fell away from the church when he was a young teenager. From then, up until like 2 weeks ago (a span of about 20 years), he was way off the deep end. Then, about 2 weeks ago. he saw a thing online about the Book of Mormon and decided that he needed to look into it more. So he called the dad in the family who invited us over and asked to meet with him because he knew him from 20 years ago (people don't move in Louisiana. Ever). Just in the last week, the man has read almost half of the Book of Mormon, he quit smoking, we got to meet with him 3 times, and he came to church! The light and fire in his eyes is incredible. I love seeing how fired up recent converts/returning less actives get about the Gospel because it's like having Thanksgiving dinner after not eating for a month. They just soak up everything and are so happy because they've found what they've been missing for so many years. We went over to his house on Friday night and he made us the most amazing gumbo and potato salad ever, and he played his guitar for us because he's a professional. It was so cool! It's been an awesome week seeing him take steps to coming back into full activity in the Church. This Gospel is amazing!
I love all y'all so much! Don't forget to look up from your phones for 5 seconds to see the needs of the people around you and to share the light you have.
Que tengan la mejor semana de su vida!
