Hello!
Okay that awkward moment when I read back through my old emails home, and I realize that they literally all sound exactly the same... I start out with something about the weather probably. Then a random montage of events, then I say "one super cool lesson this week was..." So yeah... sorry about that. No promises my routine will change in the next few weeks, so just bear with me. :)
Not going to lie, Thanksgiving was sub-par this year. We had a little bit of turkey, but that was it. Mark my words, I've got about a gallon of my dad's mashed potatoes reserved for next year, and at least 2 whole pies just for me. Thanksgiving was still good, just different. We did have this amazing Honduran soup though. I can't really describe it, other than delicious. It just had a whole mix of things, including a whole boiled egg in each of our bowls. Interesting, but so delicious. Other than that, we just tried to visit some people, and then we had an epic volleyball tournament with our district. Speaking of which, I almost always love my districts, but this district is probably one of my favorites. There are only 6 of us, so we're pretty small, but we have a good time together, and we all just want to help this branch so much. But yeah, all in all, it was a pretty good Thanksgiving!

The best meal we ate all week was actually last night. The family I told y'all about from Iraq invited us over for dinner, and they made a bunch of traditional dishes from Baghdad. It was SOOO good. Oh my goodness. The only thing I did NOT like was this drinkable yogurt stuff, which normally I'm down for, but it was a traditional Iraqi drinkable yogurt... the best way I can describe it is extremely salty liquefied sour cream that is expired. And did I drink the whole cup that they gave me? You bet I did! And then I had to quickly (but subtly) inhale a bunch of delicious food to get the taste out of my mouth before I hurled. Oh, the mission food adventures. Seriously though, the food was incredible. Also, we showed them the new Christmas video, which, side note, share that with LITERALLY EVERYONE you know. Do it. Do it right now. It's amazing and so simple and beautiful. It makes our lives SO much easier because tracting is so smooth now. Instead of trying to awkwardly make conversation out of thin air, we just say HELLO, we have a super cool video to show you! And they always let us in. Always. Good times. ANYWAY. We showed this family the Christmas video, which was perfect because they were asking us what Christmas was all about (they're Muslim and have never lived in a Christian country before) and we just showed them that video, and it was so perfect. Christmas is about remembering Christ, and resolving to follow Him and spread light and joy to the world! 50 million points to the Church media crew, because wow, that video is amazing. And I love that they're going to have new ideas every day of how to serve! It's going to be a good Christmas. :)
I feel like I need to start saying things to wrap up my mission, about how I've changed and things like that, but honestly, I don't feel like I'm coming home anywhere in the near future, and I'm going to keep it that way! I just want to be a missionary and enjoy every last second I have. Taking off the tag is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done, so I'm going to revel in the fact that I feel like that's still a year away.
I love you all so much! Have a wonderful week!
Con amor,
Hermana Sorensen
