No, we're not in a flood or a tornado. The rest of Louisiana is in a flood, but somehow we evaded it. We got some rain, and a cool thunderstorm in the middle of the night, but that was the extent of it. We're alive!
This week was full of random happenings. Which is kind of normal, but this week was especially weird. Mostly, we did a lot of service. I'll spare you all the details, but it's been quite the adventure. Other than that, we've still been trying to find more Hispanics to teach since we are Spanish speaking missionaries.
I think our best day was Tuesday. It was full of little miracles, and everyone we wanted to see was home. That never happens. Like ever. I don't have a ton of time today, so I'll just tell you about one of the miracles. We get a ton of bible referrals, because the Church has a free bible promo going on right now, and it's up to the missionaries to hand deliver the bibles. The hope is that we can then start teaching them. Most people aren't super interested when we try to start teaching or set up a return appointment. Sometimes, people will let us share a scripture and a prayer or something, but normally they just say nah we're good, thanks for the bible. We were contacting some bible referrals on Tuesday and we got to this one lady's house and give her a bible. She says, "Y'all wanna come in?" And of course we said yes. She then starts telling us her life story and how last week she had been praying to God to have Him send someone or some way to help her change her life. She stopped right there and said... “wait... I think this is it. I think you guys are it. You were sent from God.” Well... yes actually. Haha :) She asked us what church we go to and we told her. She said, “BRILLIANT! I don't have a church, so I'm going to yours.” Later in the conversation, she randomly said, "You know, I think I need to be re-baptized too. Can you all help me with that?" Well... yes actually. She was just so pumped that we were there and said we could come back every day after that. Which didn't actually end up happening because it turns out she's impossible to get a hold of. There are prepared people in this world. We just gotta find 'em.
Another fun thing this week was specialized training. That's like zone conference but about random things. This time it was about emergency preparedness, driving, health, and a bunch of other little things. I highly recommend the video, "Sam the Cloud," put out by the church. It's probably on youtube, so if you want an instructive laugh, check it out. Also, while you're at it, check out the new Easter video #Hallelujah. It's amazing. I'm pretty sure it's an exact replica of the Christmas video, just with the parents of the kids. It's so good though. Share it with everyone! Anyways, at the meeting they separated the elders and sisters for the last part of it, and the sisters went with Sister Hansen (our mission mother/best friend/mission president's wife) and she talked to the 10 of us about not being perfectionists. It was exactly what we needed. I'm still working on that one, but it was great instruction. It was also nice to just be with sisters. Elders are great and all, but I'd much rather be with the sisters any day. Sister Hansen is literally the sweetest person alive. We don't know what we would do without her!
I love you all so much! Have the best week ever!
