Hey Y'all!
If you could hear me saying this email and typing it, you would hear that I'm picking up an unavoidable southern accent on account of that's all we hear down here. I'm learning how to speak Cajun, and I can pronounce things like Thibodaux, Arceneaux, Atchafalaya, Bourgeois, and Turquoise (it's really pronounce Tur-qwars down in da bayou). I'm falling in love with Louisiana more and more every day. I totally feel like I'm in a foreign country, and I love it so much. The bayou sunsets, the southern drawl, the crawfish... I'm never leaving!

Speaking of crawfish, I had crawfish for the first time this week. Also, I had chicken and sausage gumbo. Holy smokes it was amazing! I miss Hispanic food a lot, but I've been trying so many new things here so it's keeping me entertained. Next on the list-- gator! :)
This week was kind of dead with the work. Not for lack of effort, because we literally tried plan A, B, C, D, through Z every day with little luck. Everyone was busy or not home all week. Not really sure why. Also, it didn't help that we were on lock down for most of Tuesday on account of the tornadoes and storms. We only got a little rain and some wind but nothing out of the ordinary. There is a ton of damage not too far from us, and a bunch of places in our zone. All the missionaries are fine and dandy, but the areas, not so much. A couple buildings got pretty messed up from what I've heard, but they're working on cleaning it all up. So yeah that kind of was a buzzkill this week. The bright side was that we got a ton set up for this next week, so we're super pumped about that. One thing that's been fun about being in a new area is getting to know so many new people and hearing their stories. I just love people so much! I always ask people about their conversion stories and their families and where they come from, and it's so fascinating. That's one of the best parts about being on a mission is getting to learn about people and who they are and how they got here. I want to be a missionary forever because I could spend all day talking to people and learning about them. I love being a missionary SO MUCH!!
One cool thing was that we got to go to the post-trek fireside last night because Sebrina, the girl who just got baptized, was asked to bear her testimony on account of it was because of trek she decided to take the step and get baptized. She was amazing! The whole fireside was awesome as well. It was fun to watch the video and remember when I went on trek too. I loved trek so much and it was definitely one of the most spiritual experiences I had growing up. I don't know when the next stake trek is there, but if any of y'all can go and are on the fence about going, GO. DO IT. Trust me. It was cool because a lot of youth bore their testimonies last night and talked about how they were skeptical/their moms made them/they weren't happy about it, but that just by the first night they were already so glad they went and that it changed their lives for the better. The Church is just so cool.
I hope you all have an amazing week. Enjoy your extra day of the year. Shout out to my dad for finally turning 12 today! :) I love you all so much!
Que tenga una semana maravillosa!
