Hello!
I feel like I'm in real Louisiana now. I've been in suburb/city my whole mission, and now I'm in the country/bayou. It's nuts! To save myself some time, I'm just going to write a list of all the things that are similar/different from Kenner to Houma. Here's all the different stuff:
Cajuns, real Louisiana food (everyone here found out I've been eating Hispanic food my whole mission and now we have 7 or 8 appointments this week with promises of gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, and other things I forgot. I'm pumped), english people (I've been struggling in lessons this week with remembering gospel vocab in english), lots of trees, swamp everywhere, tons of seafood shacks, tons of trailer parks (hello tracting!), hardly any Hispanics, an INCREDIBLE ward mission leader (the guy has spreadsheets of all our investigators and less actives and coordinates everything with everyone. he's amazing), huge plantation houses and just super nice houses in general, alligator shops, and lots of other stuff. It's crazy.

Similar stuff: ................... not much. I guess just the people. I already feel like part of the family down here and people have been so kind to me since I got here. Southerners are just the best! If it wasn't for the humidity and lack of snow, I would totally live here someday.
Transfers were crazy as usual. It was weird packing up all of my stuff because I had been in the Kenner apartment for so long. But I quickly got over it because the Houma apartment is brand spankin new. Like never been lived in up until 4 weeks ago new. I feel like I'm living in a fancy hotel. It's awesome! Also, I love my new companion SO MUCH! This is going to be an amazing transfer, I can just tell. The only problem is that she's a die-hard Ute fan. Gross. So I've been wearing extra amounts of BYU lately, and she's been wearing lots of Ute stuff. Good thing it's not football season because that would seriously affect our comp unity. :)

This week was amazing in terms of missionary work. Having a baptism is not a bad way to start an area. There's a baptism in this ward every week for the next 4 or 5 weeks. It's crazy. I'm convinced it's because of the ward mission leader, because cooperation between members and missionaries is absolutely vital in getting anything to happen in missionary work. This week has been a lot of learning names and trying to figure out people's situations and where to go with them. So far I'm doing pretty well, but I've got a long way to go.
One cool thing that happened was that a 20-year-old recent convert, Amanda, invited us over to her super duper anti Mormon grandparents' house. They love listening to piano music and they have a piano. Amanda wanted me to play for them. I played a few random things like Pirates of the Caribbean and some sheet music they had that they wanted me to sight read. Then, I had a feeling like I should play A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, so I did. The Spirit was there! It was amazing. Before we left, we asked if we could say a prayer, and they said no like normal. Then, like 10 seconds later, Amanda's grandma said, "You know what, I think it would be fine if we said a prayer." I didn't realize how big of a deal that was until we left. Amanda was freaking out because that was the farthest anyone has ever gotten with them. Music has a power that not a lot of other things have. Now that I'm in a more English area, more people have pianos in their homes, and I'm excited to be able to play a little more!
Alright I think that's it for now. I love you all lots! Have the best week ever!
