... And I loved it! True story.
Hi people :)
Happy Easter!! We didn't do anything that different for Easter. We had gumbo for dinner which was delicious, and I made Sister Alder hunt for the Easter eggs our families had sent us, but that was about it. We got to watch the Women's Conference though and oh my goodness it was amazing! I loved that it was all an emphasis on service. One of my favorite quotes was, "Don't let your task be a burden, but see it as an opportunity to learn what love really is." It's so true. Service is the way to feel the pure love of Christ in our lives. We can feel it every day as missionaries because all we do is service. I count it as one of my most cherished blessings to be able to sit in so many people's homes throughout the week and feel the outpouring of love the Savior has for them.

One cool thing we had this week was exchanges in Kenner. Serious tender mercy is that the STL's are still in Kenner, so I get to go back for exchanges. It was so good to see people again. The kids were so excited to see me, but not as excited as I was to see them. One of the ladies I used to visit a lot saw me and said "Es un milagro!!" (It's a miracle!) While we were on exchanges we went to the grand opening of a new taqueria (taco shop) and there was a free buffet with tacos, nachos, flautas, and lots of other amazing stuff. The actual purpose of going was because there were a ton of Hispanics and we did a lot of contacting.
We also did a lot of tracting this week, which meant it was a very entertaining week. We found out that old people, especially old white people, do not like us and will not give us the time of day. One guy started out nice. We went up to the door and knocked, and he opened and said, "Whatcha sellin'?" And we said "nothing!" He said, "Alright well whatcha teachin'?" And we said, "We're just sharing an awesome video about Christ to celebrate Easter!" And he said, "Awesome!" We asked, "Can we watch it with you?" and he said "Nope!!" and slammed the door. Rude. We got a couple door slammers, and people who will just look at us, shake their head, and slam the door without even letting us say hi. However, we also found some really amazing people that we're going back to teach. 100% of the nice people were Hispanic and 100% of the rude people were white. It's times like these that I'm so grateful I'm Spanish speaking.
Nothing else too crazy happened this week, which was a nice change compared to the last few weeks. I just hope you all know that I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He lives. He really does! He suffered for our sins, our sadness, our weakness, and He knows us perfectly and infinitely. I was thinking a lot about Christ this week, and how my testimony of Him has grown exponentially on my mission. Before my mission, I knew a lot about Christ, like I knew He was fore-ordained to be the Savior, and I knew He was born of Mary. I knew the things He taught, and I knew the things He stood for. I knew about the Atonement and the Resurrection, and that He has once again restored His Church on the earth. I knew a lot about Christ. But now, I feel like I know Christ. I think it's partially because of the increased amount of study and the emphasis I've put on learning about Christ and the Atonement (Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage is the best book ever), but I think it's more because in my simple and imperfect way, I'm not just learning about Him, but I'm walking where He would walk, and saying what He would say, and trying to do His work as best I can. I know Him as my Savior, my Redeemer, my Friend, my Brother. And I love Him.
I hope you all have the best week ever! You all are always in my prayers. Go out and serve everyone you can so that everyone will know that Jesus loves them!
Con amor,
Hermana Sorensen
