Hello People!
For some reason, the entire Hispanic population of Baton Rouge decided to be sick, gone, busy, or ignore us all week. Even when we finally set up an appointment, every single one fell through. Our whole district had this problem. It was not for lack of effort, because we knocked on a million doors and called 2 million people, and nothing. Nada. Okay that's a lie, there wasn't completely nothing, it just seemed more dead than usual compared to a normal week when we don't have enough time for all the people who want to see us.
One cool miracle though was that there is this former investigator, Myra. She used to be super golden about a year ago, but then she went to Mexico until May, so the missionaries kind of lost contact with her. When she got back, missionaries have tried calling/visiting an innumerable amount of times to no avail. The other day we were in the neighborhood trying to contact old investigators, and we were about to leave, but we had a feeling like we should try one more door, and we felt like we should try Myra's, and guess what?? SHE ANSWERED!! She totally remembered who we were (well who missionaries are) and she was so happy to see us. We noticed that she had a ton of boxes in her apartment and we asked her what they were for, and turns out she was moving a couple days later! AKA if we hadn't knocked on her door, and if she would have moved, we would have never found her again. Luckily, she's moving within our area so we can still see her!! She invited us over this next week to help her move and to teach her again. Tender mercies are all around us!

I don't have a ton of time, so I'll just share a cool story that a less active shared with us this week. She has two young daughters (I think they're 7 and 5 or something like that) and they were playing with a neighbor girl. They started playing with a mirror and pretending it was the magic mirror from Snow White and that they could see ghosts and stuff. Well the girls got super freaked out by ghosts, and so their mom told them it was okay and that it wasn't true. The girls then asked their mom to tell them a story that was true to make them feel better, and she saw the Book of Mormon on the shelf. She hadn't read it in a long time, but she just had a feeling to read it to her girls. So she started from the introduction, and the girls started to cry and say it's true. It's really true! And then they asked her if they could really know if the Book of Mormon was true too, and the mom testified that it was true and that they could pray and know it too. That helped strengthen her testimony, and she came to church for the first time in a really long time with her girls on Sunday. She said that every day since then, her girls ask her to read the introduction over again. They haven't even gotten to 1 Nephi yet, but just the introduction was enough to dispel the bad thoughts and replace them with beautiful, true things. I love this Gospel!
I love you all so much! I hope you have the best week ever! Remember to smile every day.
